For over 23 years, owner Matt Lynch has operated a wide variety of crane and heavy equipment. Tonka Crane Service is built around delivering a positive customer experience and acting quickly to find solutions to problems — while always keeping the bottom line in mind.
Safety is above all else on the job site. As a NCCCO Certified operator, rigger, and signal person, Matt runs well-maintained and clean equipment on every job, from a single hot tub set to a full day of truss lifts.
"The idea to get into the crane service business was because I've always loved driving truck and operating equipment. The business gives me a chance to do both — yet still be home with family."
Matt named the business after the heavy-duty toy trucks he played with as a kid. He grew up on a hobby farm in Hollywood Township, near the Luce Line Trail, and after graduating from Watertown-Mayer High School he went to work for Burns Excavating.
As a heavy equipment operator he became very proficient in an excavator, spending the majority of his time digging residential basements on large, complex projects around Lake Minnetonka. After 18 years he lent his services to several other companies before finishing his excavating career with Schneider Excavating and Grading in Young America — work that included a reconstruction job in Winsted and the pond and pipe work behind the new Millerbernd building.
Finally, Matt decided it was time to work for himself, and Tonka Crane Service was born. Today the main focus is supporting framers on residential framing projects with trusses and wall panels, while also serving Span-Crete, commercial HVAC, tree service companies, and more.
